Modular Kitchen, Dining and Laundry for Drilling Platform
PKL was asked to supply both a remote site modular kitchen and dining facility, and a modular laundry, which was positioned on a drilling ship for a major offshore exploration company and used just off the coast of Gran Canaria.
Prepared at PKL’s UK headquarters in Cheltenham, the four unit kitchen and dining facility was delivered to site ready for installation. The two day installation on the ship required millimetre precision and was overseen and undertaken by a PKL project manager and install team.
The kitchen and dining facility consisted of three 6 metre units, and included a kitchen with an extraction canopy, double fryer, electric hob and griddle, along with an upright fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The dining facility included seating for 32, and chilled food and drinks dispensers. The laundry facility included two commercial washing machines and two commercial dryers.
All four units contained an air conditioning system, which was specified especially for the Gran Canaria coastal climate, which was installed and commissioned by PKL’s specialist engineers as part of the installation process.
Approximately 20 staff will receive breakfast, lunch and an evening meal from the facility during their stints offshore and will use the modular laundry facility as required.
